Welcome to the luxury holiday setting of La Boudonniere and the gite complex ‘Maison La Perouse’, situated in the beautiful countryside of the Ille et Vilaine region of northern Brittany, France. The complex provides an opportunity to relax within an enclosed private gite setting , situated in expansive tranquil grounds of almost four acres including a natural wood, a heated swimming pool during summer months, play area, extensive lawned gardens and a small lake. As with most areas in Brittany, La Boudonniere is very close to woodland and forest – home to deer, wild boar, foxes, hares, rabbits, badgers and a large variety of birds including woodpeckers, kingfishers, cuckoos, owls, herons, buzzards, egrets and turtle doves. The popular Villecartier Forest and Lakes are only a few minutes walk from the gite , where you can experience a whole range of activities including pony trekking, cycling, walking, adventure climbing, boating or you can relax at The Moulin Cafe overlooking the main lake. With so little light pollution in the area, the sky at night overlooking the gite complex boasts one of the best views of stars, planets and constellations anywhere in France.
Gite ‘Maison La Perouse’ is easily accessed from the D90 main road and is only five minutes drive from the picturesque small town of Bazouges La Perouse where you will find a varied range of amenities including a restaurant, supermarket, some shops, a bar, bank, tourist information office, pharmacy, garage, hairdressers and post office. There are several other pretty villages nearby where you can further sample daily French life as well as shopping in the local weekly markets.
The historic and popular tourist towns of Combourg and Dol de Bretagne are both fifteen minutes away as is the market town of Pontorson on the Normandy border. The famous historical town of Dinan and it’s picturesque canal port is also within easy access. The area also boasts two of the most famous tourist destinations in the whole of France – the port and old town of St. Malo and the legendary Mont St. Michael. Rennes , the capital of Brittany is well worth a day trip either by car or by the frequent and reliable train service from Combourg. Rennes boasts an extensive range of famous shops, restaurants, parks and busy nightlife. Secluded sandy beaches and beautiful coastline are also a feature of the region and are only a short drive away. Wherever you choose to visit in northern Brittany and beyond, destinations are easily accessible with excellent roads and train routes. Cycling is also extremely popular in the area with many special cycle routes available. There is an airport within forty minutes drive of ‘Maison La Perouse’ on the outskirts of Rennes. This compact airport offer regular flights across Europe including several airports in the UK throughout the year. Should you consider hiring a car whilst on holiday in France, this is very easy to arrange and the daily hire rate is not expensive.
Following extensive refurbishment in 2023, Gite ‘Maison La Perouse’ is available for rent from May 2025 onwards though requests for out of season bookings can be considered. The gite complex accommodates eight people comfortably offering four bedrooms, three of which are en suite together with an annexe bedroom best suited for children with additional space for a baby. There is the possibility as well of including an additional sofa bed as part of sleeping arrangements . The ground floor comprises a large brand new open plan kitchen/ dining room as well as a separate spacious lounge, wood burning stove and bar/work area with good internet access. There is seating outside the property at the front and rear. A large private patio at the back of the gite provides additional social space with bbq facilities. Ample private parking is available on site next to the gite.
